The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc was a critically acclaimed turning point for the manufacturer's Xperia line. Delivering a more robust UI than its predecessor, the X10, it also enjoyed one of the slickest designs we've seen on a smartphone, a great camera and a beautiful screen. In spite of all these qualities, Its appeal was tarnished shortly after release, with LG, Samsung and HTC all dropping their dual-core handsets onto the market. So despite no major slowdown on the device itself, in consumers' eyes at least, 1GHz suddenly seemed slow. So while it's a bit early for an entirely new handset, in a tried and tested mobile industry fashion, Sony Ericsson has released a specced-up stop-gap device and thrown the letter 'S' in for good measure. What you get is the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S, with a 1.4GHz processor as well as 2D and 3D Sweep Panorama functionality for the camera. Suffice to say this adds to the already competent spec sheet, with its 4.2" screen (480 x 854 pixels), 512MB RAM, 8MP AF camera, not to mention Gingerbread under the hood. Needless to say, the bumped up processor results in speedier interaction, most noticeable in camera module which opens 20% faster and web browsing, which handles flash videos that little bit smoother. The 3D Sweep Panorama can be appreciated on any 3D TV that requires glasses, otherwise, the 2D panorama can be outputted via HDMI or viewed on the handset itself.

Having given the Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S the once over, it won't come as a shock to anyone that this isn't an entirely new device and won't prompt current Xperia arc users to upgrade. That said, with smooth performance and the same fantastic styling as found on the original, only this time in white, we can see the appeal of this reprise and look forward to getting a review unit so we can give you a full run down. Those who'd want to purchase the handset though, will have to wait at least until the end of the month, which is when some retailers will start shipping it.

هاتف سوني أريكسون الجديد "Xperia Arc S" سيكون قادراً على عرض الصور التي يلتقطها على جهاز تلفاز ثلاثي الأبعاد. لكن الهاتف نفسه سيعرض الصور التي يتم التقاطها بشكل ثنائي الأبعاد فقط على شاشته التي يبلغ قطرها 4.2 بوصة، كما لا تتوافر فيه إمكانية عرض الفيديو ثلاثي الأبعاد.  يعتمد عمل الجهاز على تقنية التقاط صور متزامنة وتركيب هذه الصور مع بعضها البعض. كما تم دعم الهاتف، الذي يعمل بنظام تشغيل آندرويد بكاميرا ذات تباين 8.1 ميغا بكسل وفقاً لما نشرته جريدة صنداي تليغراف. ويمكن عرض الصور ثلاثية الأبعاد من خلال توصيل الهاتف بتلفاز ثلاثي الأبعاد باستخدام التقنية عالية الجودة HDMI. تم كشف النقاب عن هذا الهاتف في معرض التقنية IFA ببرلين، وهو المعرض الذي شهد سباقاً على تقنيات العرض ثلاثي الأبعاد، فقد أعلنت توشيبا عن إنتاجها شاشة عرض 3D يمكن الاستمتاع بها بدون استخدام نظارة خاصة، كما قدمت شركة LG لابتوب بشاشة ثلاثية الأبعاد لا تحتاج هي أيضاً لنظارة.

September 4 2011 - Villagers and veteran hunters have captured a one-ton saltwater crocodile which they plan to make the star of a planned ecotourism park in a southern Philippine town. About 100 people had to pull the crocodile, which weighs about 2,370 pounds (1,075 kilograms), from the creek to a clearing where a crane lifted it into a truck.

أكدت سلطات البيئة والحياة الفطرية في الفلبين اصطياد تمساح عملاق، يبلغ طوله نحو 21 قدماً، أي ما يقرب من 6.5 متر، ووزنه 2370 باوند، حوالي طن و75 كيلوغرام، يُعتقد أنه أكبر تمساح من نوعه يتم الإمساك به على قيد الحياة، حيث تم إيداعه إحدى المحميات الطبيعية.  وبحسب "سي إن إن" فقد جرت عملية اصطياد التمساح العملاق في منطقة "أغوسان ديل سور"، الواقعة في جنوب جزيرة "مينديناو"، وتبعد نحو 500 كيلومتر من العاصمة الفلبينية مانيلا، بحسب تقرير أوردته شبكة GMA News الإخبارية الفلبينية.  وتمكن فريق يضم نحو 30 رجلاً، من اصطياد التمساح العملاق، بعد مطاردته لما يقرب من 21 يوماً، حيث استخدموا كمية كبيرة من اللحوم لإغرائه، ونصبوا له عدداً من أفخاخ الصيد، باستخدام قضبان معدنية بسمك ثمانية ملليمترات.
وبحسب بيانات وكالة "غينيس" للأرقام القياسية، فإن أكبر تمساح يعيش في الأسر، يبلغ طوله 18 قدماً، ويعيش في إحدى المحميات بمنطقة "كاسيوس" شمالي أستراليا.
ورغم تأكيد السلطات الفلبينية نبأ اصطياد التمساح العملاق، فقد جددت تحذيرها لسكان القرية، الذين يبلغ عددهم نحو 37 ألف نسمة، من السير بالقرب من النهر ليلاً، وذكرت أن التمساح العملاق لم يكن وحده الذي يعيش في المنطقة.

 A single bunch of Ruby Romans, the titan of Japanese grapes, on Friday sold for JPY 500,000 or about  USD 6,400 or in more remarkable terms, that means each grape is worth about JPY 20,000 (about USD 260). The Ruby Roman grape is a variety of table grape invented by the minds of the Japanese people for maximum expense and marketed in Japan. It is red in color and about the size of a ping pong ball. The first Ruby Roman grapes went on sale in August 2008 for JPY 100,000  about USD 910 per 700 gram bunch, or USD 26 per grape. They are said to be the most expensive variety of grapes. A grape only gets the honor of being distinguished as a Ruby Roman if it meets certain qualifications. Each grape must weigh at least 20 grams, sugar content must exceed 18% and the coloring should resemble a cherry tomato-red hue. And there are elite ranks as well that help determine price points. The least expensive bunch and deemed standard, weighing about 450 grams, sold for JPY 25,000.00 on Friday. The 600 gram bunch that grabbed the record price was designated as “special class.” But that’s not the highest-ranking level. That is the “premium class,” where each grape must weigh at least 30 grams and the bunch overall weighs a minimum 700 grams, the equivalent of about 15 golf balls. None of the grapes have made the cut so far this year and there were just six in the 2010 harvest.

بيعت فاكهة العنب اليابانية المعروفة باسم ruby roman grapes في مزاد علني باليابان مقابل 6400 دولار أي ما يعادل 24 ألف ريال سعودي. وكان هذا المزاد في سوق السلع المباعة بالجملة في مدينة كانزاوا باليابان وشارك فيه ما يزيد عن 30 شخصاً. وتزن كل حبة من حبات العنب 20 غراماً وتحتوي على 18% من السكر، كما أن لها لون ثمرة الكريز الأحمر، ويصل ثمن الواحدة منها إلى 255 دولار أي ما يعادل 956 ريالاً سعودياً. وصرح مصدر مسؤول في وزارة الزراعة اليابانية أن الزيادة في السعر ترجع إلى زيادة الإقبال على شراء الثمرة وندرتها في الوقت ذاته، فهي من الثمرات المعدلة وراثياً، ووصلت نسبة زيادة السعر للثمرة إلى 150% عن العام السابق.

اجتاحت مئات الآلاف من النحل منزل جوزيه بارا وحولته إلى خلية كبيرة أنتجت كمية كبيرة من العسل على مدى العشر سنوات الماضية. وأخفقت جميع محاولات جوزيه في إبعاد النحل عن بيتها وحماية عائلتها من لسعاته، إلا أن تدخلت فرقة خاصة لمكافحة الحشرات لتكشف أن البيت كله تحول إلى خلية، وفقاً لصحيفة "البيان". وقالت جوزيه في مقابلة لها مع موقع هوستن الأمريكي، أن النحل داهم كل منزلها حتى أنه اقتحم غرفة طفلها الصغير من خلال فتحة صغيرة وأن زوجها وابنتها البالغة سنتين تضررا أيضا من لسعات النحل. وأضافت أنها حاولت التخلص من النحل بشتى الوسائل ولكن دون جدوى، كما أنها لم تتمكن من استدعاء قسم الطوارئ في بلدية هوستن كون خدماتهم مكلفة تقدر بـ 450 دولارا وكان ذلك خارجاً عن امكانياتنا. وعائلة جوزيه ليست المتضرر الوحيد من النحل، حيث انتقل هذا الأخير إلى منزل جارتها دونيتا التي أصبحت تتخوف كلما خرج أحفادها للعب في الفناء الخلفي. ومن جهته تفاجئ كلود غريفين من قسم مكافحة الحشرات من حجم المشكلة حيث اضطر خلال تقييمه للمشكلة، لإزالة قطعة من سقف المنزل فضلا عن قطع الطوب حيث اكتشف كمية هائلة من النحل والعسل المخزن في الجدران والأسقف منذ عدة سنوات. وعثر كلود على مئات الآلاف من النحل التي تعيش داخل المنزل، كما أنه سحب 200 رطلا من العسل.  ويقول كلود أن حياة العائلة كانت مهددة بالخطر وقدر سن خلايا النحل المتواجدة في المنزل بأكثر من 10 سنوات. وختمت جوزيه قولها بأنها ستضطر لمغادرة المنزل ليوم أو أكثر حتى ينتهي قسم مكافحة الحشرات من عمله، وهي محظوظة كون عائلتها لم تصب بأذى .

The space-age sickbay that diagnoses disease without need for tests from sight, smell and 'feel' of disease

A sickbay that uses space-age technology to diagnose diseases ranging from stomach bugs to cancer has been unveiled at a  British hospital. The first of its kind, it contains a bewildering array of equipment, including probes designed for  missions to Mars.  The gadgets in the million-pound unit can detect illness without the need for painful and invasive tests. They combine information about the sight, smell and ‘feel’ of a disease to produce a diagnosis. Professor Mark Sims, the Leicester University space scientist who led the project alongside Tim Coats, a professor of emergency medicine, said: ‘In the old days, it used to be said that a consultant could walk down a hospital ward and smell various diseases, as well as telling a patient’s health by looking at them and feeling their pulse. ‘What we are doing is a high-tech version of that to help doctors diagnose the disease. We are replacing doctors’ eyes with state-of-the-art imaging systems, replacing the nose with breath analysis, and the “feel of the pulse” with monitoring of blood flow using ultrasound technology and measurement of blood oxygen levels.’ The diagnostics development unit is part of Leicester Royal Infirmary’s A&E department. One group of instruments, the ‘eyes’, uses thermal imaging technology developed by the university’s space scientists to search for life on Mars to hunt for signs of disease via the surface of the human body. For instance, it should be possible to get information about blood chemistry that points to liver or kidney problems without even taking a blood sample. An instrument developed by Professor Paul Monks of Leicester University's chemistry department is the ‘nose’ of the operation and analyses gases in a patient's breath. This provides clues to problems from diabetes to asthma, liver and heart disease and several types of cancer. While some of the equipment is routinely used in hospitals around the country, other pieces were custom-built for the sickbay, making  it the only one of its type in the world. The unit will initially be used to check out patients thought to be suffering from heart failure, pneumonia and serious, body-wide infections – but the instruments have dozens of possible uses.

تطورت أساليب اكتشاف الأمراض و طرق الفحص بشكل كبير خلال الخمسة عقود الماضية باستخدام وسائل التكنولوجية الحديثة ، لكنها بالتأكيد تعتمد بشكل كلي على تواجد الطبيب وحسه المهني وخبرته الطبية، ولكن في عيادات المستقبل لن يكون هناك حاجة لوجود طبيب ماهر لفحص المريض وتشخيص المرض ,  فقد أنشئت أول عيادة في بريطانيا لتشخيص الأمراض باستخدام منظومة من الأجهزة ذات التكنولوجيا الحديثة، والتي تقوم بفحص المريض وتشخيص مرضه بدقة عالية بداية من الفيروسات العادية وحتى الأمراض السرطانية، فلا يحتاج المريض إلا لأن يترك نفسه للأجهزة وهي سوف تقوم بالباقي , يقول القائم على المشروع البروفيسور مارك سيمس من جامعة ليسيستر لعلوم الفضاء: “ما نفعله في هذه العيادات هو مساعدة الطبيب على تشخيص المرض ، فنقوم باستبدال نظرة الطبيب الخبيرة بنظم تصوير حرارية حديثة، وأنف الطبيب بأجهزة تحليل نفس المريض، وبدلاً من الإمساك بمعصم المريض لفحص النبض هناك جهاز لفحص تدفق الدم ونسبة الأكسجين في الدم باستخدام تكنولوجيا الموجات فوق الصوتية”.

فكرة العيادة مأخوذة من أفلام الخيال العلمي والتي دائماً ما تحتوي على أجهزة خارقة تفحص وتعالج المريض دون الحاجة إلى أطباء، وبالفعل تم إنشاء العيادة اعتماداً على التكنولوجيا والأجهزة المستخدمة في بحوث الفضاء!
فمثلاً نظم التصوير الحراري التي كانت تستخدم للكشف عن وجود حياة على المريخ، تستخدم الآن للكشف عن الفيروسات عن طريق تصوير المريض، ليصبح من الممكن تحليل دم المريض للكشف عن أمراض الكلى والكبد دون الحاجة لأخذ عينة من دمه

كما يستخدم في العيادة أداة جديدة – طورت في جامعة ليسيستر لعلوم الفضاء- للكشف عن أمراض مثل السكر والربو والفيروسات الكبدية عن طريق تحليل نفس المريض. وقد تكلف إنشاء هذه العيادة حوالي مليون جنيه استرليني، وتستخدم حالياً للكشف عن الأمراض القلبية والرئوية والخطيرة بشكل عام ، إلا أنه يمكن استخدامها على نطاق أوسع لتشخيص العديد من الأمراض المختلفة.
تعتبر هذه العيادة قفزة تكنولوجية أخرى تجعلنا على مشارف عصر جديد يعتمد الإنسان فيه على التكنولوجيا بشكل كامل في جميع أوجه حياته ,  فهل هي نعمة أم نقمة؟.. وهل سنصل قريباً لليوم الذي تسيطر فيه التكنولوجيا علينا بدل أن نسيطر عليها نحن؟

17-year-old Chilean artist, Fredo, is an incredible talent. These sketches demonstrate his wonderful creativity and patience, as perspective and depth are both difficult effects to achieve. Inspired by the greats like, M.C. Escher, Rembrandt, Beksinski and Arcimboldo, Fredo also acknowledges music as an integral part of life and his creative process.  Some of his extremely detailed drawings even feature creepy goblins holding physical objects like a lighter or reaching out of the page for a soda can. To be able pull this off, this gifted teenager not only has a powerful imagination but an extreme amount of patience and a crazy amount of talent.

يرسم فنان تشيلي محترف صورا ثلاثية الابعاد لا تصدق، بحيث ان سلاحه الوحيد هو قلم الرصاص وقطعة من الورق. فسلسلة من رسومات الجرافيت لفريدو البالغ من العمر(17 عاما) الخلابة، تم نشرها وتداولها بسرعة كبيرة بين محبي الفن على شبكة الانترنت. اما الان فهو يخطط لاخذ فنه إلى الشوارع لمحاولة لنشر رسوماته، من العالم الافتراضي إلى العالم الواقعي. فريدو، واسمه الحقيقي هو فلاديمير إينوستروزا، تعلم تقنيته المذهلة عن طريق الصدفة، ففي احد الايام رسم فراشة في وقت فراغه وهو مستلق على سريره، حين أدرك أن الفراشة كانت قد امتدت الى خارج الصفحة. في تمعن اكبر رأى كيف أن الحيوان يبدو وكأنه يطفو، وذلك عن طريق الصدفة بعد ان استخدم طريقة مماثلة لتلك المستخدمة من قبل فنان الرسومات ثلاثية الابعاد الإنجليزي جوليان بيفر. وعلى موقعه الرسمي عدد لا يحصى من الصفحات المخصصة لعمله، والآلاف من المشجعين يتابعون اخر اخبار فنه، فريدو الآن حريص على التوسع في مواهبه واتخاذ فنه في شوارع سانتياغو وخارجها.
